you unbraid my mind
and set aside the piece
that won’t fit in this time
and so along the way
you dissect a heart
in a cold box
of bodies
donated in the name of science
counting minutes late
into a dark night
until you return to leave off the lights
tip toe into your slumber
beside a warm live body
whose heart beats heavily
on your pillow
as you drift away
for one more morning
of whites drying slowly
and another set of minutes
passing by so you turn out
and sweetly press her
she sleeps unknowing
and the doors left unlocked
for anyone and everyone
welcome in and make your self comfortable.
