In Death

Shelter not always beneath these sheets
rolling around to find some sleep
someone lay beside me and wish away
this time let me cry

Warmth not always carrying across the wind
sometimes a chill finds a way in
tossing me closer for a summer embrace
Afraid of the loss, just always afraid

Love closes the gates
There should be no room for mistakes
Fear has no place here
It has no place.

Convergence of wrinkled palms
and a sandy sun worn face
nothing softer than a mile of sugar white rays
an army of waves that reside only to obey

This is where my fingers trace

and I find my rest.
